Terrible Realization

When someone tells you, when you leave, that they will die alone a drug addict.  What do you call this?

Emotional Blackmail. Cowardly. Unfair.

Not Your Problem.

I'm sorry, this type of thing pushes all my buttons - a good friend of mine had a emotionally abusive boyfriend in high school who told her that if she broke up with him, he would kill himself.

She tried to break up with him several times, and each time he told her he wouldn't live without her (they were 16 at the time).

Eventually she did break up with him. And he did commit suicide. She was so upset that *she* nearly committed suicide because she felt *responsible* - therapy helped her, but it was too late for him.

You cannot be allow another adult to hold you emotionally hostage.

I totally agree with you. However, I think it would be easier to handle if it was just a boyfriend. boo people. always a disappointment. (well not always always but most of the time)
